We’ve recently finished this Volkswagen Corrado restoration and are delighted to share some images of the completed project.
The Volkswagen Corrado is an underrated classic. Based on the classic Golf platform, this cool coupe with its versatile hatchback had the handling prowess of a Golf GTi with the distinctive looks of a Teutonic sports coupe.
Manufactured from 1989 – 1995, the Corrado came with a mix of engines, including the popular 1.8-litre 16v supercharged G60 engine and the VR6 powerplant. We have worked on a variety of Corrados over our many years in business, but this particular example had the 2-litre 8v engine with manual transmission: a superbly torquey performer, equally willing on the B-roads around our workshops or scooting up and down the M5.
With all rust extinguished and a series of electrical issues repaired, including a defunct light switch and a seized rear spoiler – which extends automatically at speed – it has now been returned to its owner, looking resplendent in its original colour of Blackberry Pearl.
